  • Separating Difference from Disability with Students Learning English as an Additional Language
  • This four-week course, designed for K–12 practitioners working with limited English language learners in general education, bilingual education, ESOL/ELL education, and special education, addresses specific issues in assessment, intervention, and identification strategies that are most effective in separating difference from disability. Participants will learn what tools and strategies are available and appropriate to use. Responses to intervention models for English language learners will also be explored, focusing on the interpretation of data gathered during the general education intervention problem-solving process, prior to conducting an evaluation for special education.

TESOL is authorized by IACET to offer 4 CEUs for this online course.

  • Supporting English Language Learners With Exceptional Needs
  • This six-week course is interactive, with discussion boards, interactive lectures and activities, individual and group reflections, and projects related to day-to-day teaching practices. Activities and projects are tied to participants' actual roles and teaching environments wherever possible. This course is appropriate for all US-based and international educators interested in the intersection of English language teaching and supporting learners with exceptional needs, especially English language educators teaching English as a second or additional language, as a foreign language, and as an international language. It is also appropriate for special educators, general educators, coaches, and building-level or system-level administrators and school leaders.

TESOL is authorized by IACET to offer 6 CEUs for this online course.

  • TESOL: Training for Trainers
  • Through this course, participants will take time to reflect on their current or would-be program through several key tasks and discussion boards in an online community, take action to boost their program's profile and, most importantly, transform current programs using technology. Participants will be introduced to several free online resources to help enhance their English language teacher training program. Participants will also create an extensive resource guide or module that they can further customize after the course. This program is appropriate for both experienced English language teachers starting their journey in teacher education, as well as seasoned educators looking to add to their repertoire of practical ideas and strengthen their theoretical knowledge.

TESOL is authorized by IACET to offer 6 CEUs for this online course.
