Who's Eligible?
Any TESOL member who is a classroom teacher, teacher trainer, or teacher supervisor.
Purpose
To support teachers who wish to attend a the
TESOL convention.
The Ruth Crymes Fellowship Fund was established in memory of TESOL President (1979-1980) and
TESOL Quarterly Editor Ruth Crymes, who was killed in an airplane crash en route to the 1979 MEXTESOL Conference.
Amount
Two fellowships in the amount of US$500 to be used toward registration, room, board, and travel expenses.
Criteria
Selections are made based on the following criteria:
- your reasons for wishing to attend a TESOL event
- ways that attendance will enhance your workplace performance
- your plans to share your professional development knowledge with colleagues
- your professional goals and experience

To complete the online application process, you will need the following information.
You are strongly encouraged to gather this information before you begin the application. That way, you can fill out the application completely, and you will not have to go back and fill in items later.
Essay (800 words)
The essay should address
- your reasons for wishing to attend a TESOL event
- the ways attendance will enhance your workplace performance
- your willingness to participate on behalf of TESOL, an affiliate, or other similar professional organization
- your professional goals and experience
- your plans to share your professional development knowledge with colleagues
One Letter of Recommendation
You will be asked to provide a contact email address for the person writing your letter of recommendation. They will receive a message from awards@tesol.org at the address that you provide inviting them to upload their letter of recommendation directly to the application system. The message will not be sent until you "complete and finalize" your application. Letters submitted by the applicant will not be accepted.
Please ask your letter writer to watch for a message from awards@tesol.org. To ensure that they receive the message, please ask them to add awards@tesol.org to their contacts or to their spam whitelist.
If they do not receive the message, please send a message to
TESOL Awards.
The letter should be written by a professional who can describe your work and your professional activities.

Applications are being accepted starting 1 July. All applications and supporting materials must be received by
1 October.
