On CALL provides an overview of computer-assisted language learning (CALL) through articles on research, trends, and materials. It also serves to keep members aware of current activities and projects within the CALL Interest Section (CALL-IS). Columns provide a forum for CALL-IS members to share their experiences and opinions. 


On CALL is written for the CALL-IS membership, which includes anyone interested in CALL, but primarily language teachers, graduate students in TESL/TEFL, and administrators with varying levels of CALL expertise. The membership represents a broad base of international locations and teaching situations, making for a diverse readership.


  • On CALL reports on the activities of the CALL-IS, including what takes place at the national convention and other sponsored projects.
  • In order to keep CALL-IS members in touch with the field, articles focus on research, trends, and materials, including books, software, and web sites.
  • Articles are professional in style and written in language that is clear and understandable to the majority of the readership.
  • On CALL balances the items in each issue, so as to address the diversity of the CALL-IS membership.
